Tissue Paper Flowers Mothers Day Card

Make a handmade card for your mother that also gives her tissue paper flowers that last forever. Learn how to make folded paper flowers into a beautiful blooming flower perfect for attaching to a whimsical handmade mothers day card.

Materials Needed

1. Tissue paper - two complimenting colors

2. Green chenille stem

3. Construction paper - yellow

4. Decorative edging scissors

5. Paper cutting straight scissors

6. Tacky glue

7. Blank card

8. Bubble paint

Instructions

1. Make a decorative border -- Cut out a piece of yellow paper that would fit into the front cover of your card. Use decorative scissors to cut a window in the paper and glue it to your card.

2. Cut out large rectangle that will fit onto your card with one color. Cut out a piece half the dimensional size of the first piece of tissue paper.

3. Fold each piece of tissue paper over like a verticle closing card. Lay the smaller one inside the larger one.

4. Continue to keep the tissue papers folded. Fold them like an accordian.

5. Fold the accordian rectangle in half and wrap the end of a chenille stem around it to hold it in place.

6. Shape your flower petals by using your scissors to shape each end like the petals you desire.

7. Open the folded accordian horizontally to display your blooming flower. Use multiple pieces of tissue paper to add more layers to your flower. We used two layers for each color.

8. We folded the chenille stem in half and wrapped it together. You can use the end to make the shape of a leaf as well.

9. Glue the flower to the front of your card.

10. Using bubble paint, write your mothers day message -- Happy Mothers Day!
