Celtic Harp St. Patrick's Day Card

Make a handmade celtic harp St. Patrick's Day card and share the legend of the Celtic Harp with your merry Irish loving friends. Here is our celtic harp legend poem :

A harp strummed and stroked by Dogda,
Richly ornamented and made of oak.
Captured, silenced and hung on a wall.
Awoken by the sound of thy true master's call.
Inspired to kill thy captors and escape,
To live on and play Irish melodies for all.
    Time to Complete : < 30 minutes
    Difficulty : Easy
Submitted By : Crafty Shops Creative Staff
    Materials Needed
    1. A blank card or card stock to fold your own card
    2. Construction paper - (mint green, dark green, brown, pink, yellow)
    3. White or black yarn to make the celtic harp strings
    4. Scissors
    5. Glue - regular elmers glue for the paper, but you will need tacky glue to make the yarn stick quickly to the card.
    6. Marker - We used black
    7. Printer and paper to print out the Legend of the Celtic Harp poem

    Instructions
    1. Cut out a mint green background that fits across the front face of your St. Patricks Day card.
    2. How to draw your celtic harp : Make a thick base on the left side. Connect a top piece with a downward slope. Connect the top and base with a long curve.
    3. Cut out each piece of the celtic harp like a puzzle. We put a line through the base side of the harp to make a fourth piece to the three sided harp.
    4. Use the top piece of your celtic harp as a pattern to make your banner. Cut out a matching likeness from your yellow paper. Then glue the yellow to your pink paper and cut out a border around the yellow piece.
    5. The celtic harp should not take up more than 2/3 of the verticle space on your St. Patricks Day card. Glue the pieces of the harp to the card.
    6. Using tacky glue, make lines, that denote where your harp strings will appear. Lay the yarn over the glue and make your harp strings.
    7. Cut out pink flowers by making intercrossing bows on pink paper. Glue yellow circles to the center of the pink flowers. Fold the flower petals into the center to give them a 3D look. Glue only the center to the paper along the long curved side of
    8. Cut out three shamrocks from dark green paper. One shamrock will go on the top corner of your harp. The other two shamrocks will take their place on the two right side corners of your card.
    9. Paste your card banner above the celtic harp, so that it slopes like the top arm of the harp. Write Happy St. Patrick::s Day in the banner.
    10. Inside your card glue a mint green banner and glue the printout of the Legend of the Celtic Harp poem we supplied in the description above. Add accents in the border with shamrock and pink flowers.
    11. Outline your shamrocks and add veins to give them more depth.
    12. Now you have a fabulous St. Patrick::s Day Card to share with friends and family that displays your knowledge of the Celtic Harp, and ancient Irish symbol!
