Turtle Valentine Mailbox

Collect your valentines in your classroom within this easy to make turtle valentine mailbox. All you need to make this valentine mailbox idea is, a tall cereal box, tissue paper, construction paper, glue, and some valentine spirit.

Materials Needed

1. Tall recycled cereal box

2. Red tissue paper or wrapping paper

3. Construction paper - white, brown, red

4. Funny eyes

5. Scissors

6. Glue

7. Scotch tape

8. Cut out the center of the heart, so that you are left with the brown outline of a heart.

9. Use your brown scraps to cut out a triangle for the tail, four legs and a large paper turtle head.

Instructions

1. Wrap your cereal box with wrapping paper or red tissue paper. Leave the bottom surface unwrapped, so it will sit level on a table.

2. Fold a large sheet of brown paper, so that you can cut out a large one half heart.

3. Fold a large sheet of white paper. Lay the brown heart outline over the white paper. Cut around the outer edge about 1 inch from the brown, so you produce a large white solid heart that is one inch larger than the brown outlined heart.

4. Glue the brown paper heart outline to the white solid heart. Now you have made a heart shaped turtle shell.

5. Cut out the center of the heart, so that you are left with the brown outline of a heart.

6. Use your brown scraps to cut out a triangle for the tail, four legs and a large paper turtle head.

7. Using red paper, cut out tiny hearts to glue onto the turtle shell, each foot, the outline of the eyes, and center of the turtle tail.

8. Glue the funny eyes to the heart shaped turtle eye backround.

9. Glue the head, four legs and tail to the paper turtle shell.

10. Cut a large slit in the top of the cereal box to serve as the mailbox opening to collect your valentines. Outline it with white paper serving as a decoration.

11. Glue the finished turtle to the front of your wrapped cereal box.

12. Now your have valentine mailbox in order for you to collect the valentines from all of your friends and family.
