Paper Plate Leprechaun Hat

Search for your pot of gold this St. Patty's day in your very own homemade black leprechaun hat. All you need is a paper plate, black paper, and glue or tape to make this magical leprechaun hat for kids. Every irishman needs a black hat with a four leaf clover to make his St. Patrick's Day holiday complete!

Materials Needed

1. Paper plate

2. Construction paper (black, orange, and green)

3. Black markers or crayons

4. Scissors

5. Glue or tape

Instructions

1. Lay your paper plate face down and cover it with black using paper, crayons, or markers to make the brim of your leprechaun hat.

2. Cut out the inner circle of your paper plate. Poke through the middle with your scissors and keep the entire outer circle of your paper plate intact.

3. Take an 8.5 X 11 inch sheet of black construction paper. Fold it long ways and cut the black paper into two pieces on the fold.

4. Connect the two strips of paper together by the shorter ends with tape or glue.

5. Glue a one inch wide strip of orange paper across the black strip starting about one inch from the bottom of the black paper.

6. Draw a buckle into the orange paper and cut it out.

7. Draw a four leaf clover out of the green paper and cut it out.

8. Overlap the paper four leaf clover with the paper hat buckle. Apply glue to the visible pieces and paste them to the appropriate place on your strip of paper.

9. Fold the strip of black paper about a half inch from the bottom toward the good side.

10. Put the black piece inside the paper plate and tape or glue it into place.

11. Now you have a paper plate leprechaun hat that will be the hot topic at any Irish St. Patricks Day party for kids of all ages.
