    Holiday Marble Run
      
    Use your holiday wrapping scraps to make a marble run, the most basic version of a roller coaster.
    Time to Complete : < 30 minutes

    Materials Needed
    1. Long card board tubes, such as present wrapping paper tubes
    2. Wrapping paper or wrapping paper scraps
    3. Scissors
    4. Shoe box bottom
    5. Tape or glue
    6. Sharp cutting devices (parental help with this tool)
    7. marble or ball that is smaller than the tube openings and rolls easily.

    Instructions
    1. Take one of your cardboard tubes and divide into thirds while cutting the top third completely off. You will have two complete tubes when finished with this step.
    2. Position the connecting tubes.
    3. Permanently attach your three standing tubes to the 3 of the four corners of your shoe box with tape or glue.
    4. Wrap your wrapping paper or wrapping paper scraps around the tubes for decoration. Poke through the wrapping paper to expose the holes you just made.
    5. Do the same between the medium sized tube and the small tube, but cut a hole that allows the connecting tube to flow completely through the small tube.
    6. Take an extra tube and cut the top half of each end. The cut should be the same length as the thickness of the standing tubes. Position this piece as a diagonal bridge between the long and medium sized tubes. Allow for the medium tube to have an o
    7. Do the same to the medium sized tube.
    8. Carve a hole near the top of the longest tube that is big enough to fit another cardboard tube inside of it.
    9. Position your tubes in three of the four corners of your shoe box bottom.
    10. Make another tube that is a medium sized compared to the long and small tubes you just created.
    11. Now you can drop a marble through the top of the longest tube and watch it roll using gravity down to the opening in the tube connected to the smallest tube.
