People of all ages love to play with their food. What about making art with it? We are not talking about just carving pumpkins! You would not believe the artistic creations made with many different types of fruits and vegetables. Some local fairs even hold veggie art competitions that attract many competitors and observers.
Tips for making your veggie art :
1. Select soft fruits and vegetables that are soft, yet still hold their shape, like potatoes, watermelons, squash, and pumpkins.
2. Make sure you include lots of color to your creations. Incorporate foods like tomatoes for a splash of red or oranges for orange flare.
3. Wherever possible try to connect your vegetables and fruit with toothpicks that can easily pierce the skin of food, but still small enough to be hidden. Glue can be used, but could make your art look messy.
4. Draw lines onto your fruits and vegetable with markers before cutting or carving into them. I guess it sort of takes on the idea measure twice then cut. |
