What is a mural : A mural is a colossal sized painting spread across a wall, ceiling, or other large permanent flat surface. One of the oldest known forms of artwork, murals of sorts date back to prehistoric times. One The paintings found on the Caves of Lascaux in southern France serves as the oldest known mural created by man.
The Renaissance artists, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo comprise some of the most famous muralists of all time. Most artists do not tackle a mural until their perfect their craft with other forms of media, since the creation of a mural requires an excellent eye.
Artists categorize murals into three different forms :painted murals, tiled murals, and ceramic murals.
Artists construct painted murals much like free form painting by laying out and outline of the images in mind, then adding color and shading as a finishing touch.
Tiled murals take on the same effect as bathroom tiles, except on a larger scale.Artists paint images onto individual tiles that represent the different quadrants on a wall. Then, the artist affixes the different tiles to the wall.
